Holding the next meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group "Quality Education" of the Council for National Development under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan
On May 30, 2023, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the technical support of UNDP in Tajikistan, held the first meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group "Quality Education" of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The meeting was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan Jurazoda Jamshed and the Head of the Secretariat of the National Development Council Manuchehr Majon. Jamshed Khabibulla spoke about the issues of quality education to ensure the implementation of the Medium-Term Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025 and the Medium-Term Action Plan for 2021-2023 "National Strategy for the Development of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period until 2030".
He noted that over the past five years, the total number of students in general education schools amounted to 186 thousand people (more than 2 million people), and the actual number of students in secondary education amounted to 7.8% (with coverage at the level of 95.5%, of which girls - 94.7%. percent) increased. Also, despite the decrease in school enrollment of boys and girls (grades 5-9) with increasing age, the problem of non-attendance of about 4 percent of children aged 11 to 15 years remains. During this period, the number of school teachers increased by 14.7 thousand people, and the proportion of teachers with higher education increased from 68.7 to 72.3 percent, including in rural areas from 65.4 to 69.4 percent. At the same time, the aging trend of current teachers has slightly decreased due to the arrival of new young teachers, and the share of young teachers (with less than 10 years of experience) has reached 47 percent.
During the meeting, the head of the Department of quality education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kurbanzoda Muhammad Salim, presented a report on quality education, within the framework of the activities of the ministry and the National Strategy for the Development of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2023, which the participants widely discussed.
The developed methodology of the Learning Platform Index was discussed and supported by the members of the working group.
At the end of the meeting, the participants and the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Habibullо, discussed the issues of monitoring and evaluating educational programs, increasing the availability of education depends on improving the infrastructure of educational institutions, he emphasized the practical activities of working members in this area to develop a plan actions for the years of the group's training The Education Strategy for 2024-2026 is timely.
