On May 24, 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the technical support of UNDP, in the assembly hall of the Executive body of state power of the city of Penjikent, held a presentation of the "Program for the socio-economic development of the Penjikent city for 2021-2025".
The purpose of the public hearings was to discuss the previous Program for the socio-economic development of the Penjikent city for the period 2016-2020 and the updated Program for the socio-economic development of the Panjakent city for 2021-2025 with the participation of representatives of local authorities, working group, mass media, civil society and private sector.
The hearings were attended by deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan – Mr. Parviz Shodizoda and Mr. Giyosiddin Ashurzoda.
At the event, the First Deputy Mayor of Penjikent city, Mr. Safarzoda Muhammadsodik, hold an opening speech and presented the “Program for the socio-economic development of the city of Penjikent for 2021-2025”. It was noted that this program is the main document of the city and determines the priorities and general directions of the city's policy aimed at achieving sustainable economic development, improving the living standards of population in the medium term.
Mr. Shodizoda Parviz noted that the executive authority of the Penjikent city will continue to achieve the strategic goals of the country: ensuring energy security and efficient use of electricity, Breaking the communication deadlock and becoming a transit country, ensuring food security and access of the population to quality food, ensuring productive employment and rapid industrialization of the country.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Safarzoda Muhammadsodik expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and UNDP for providing advisory assistance in developing the Program for the Social and Economic Development of the city of Penjikent for the period 2021-2025.
