Meeting of Working Group No. 11 "Environmental Protection, Emergency Situations and Climate Change" within the framework of the Secretariat of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan

   June 24, 2025, Dushanbe — Today, the next meeting of Interagency Working Group No. 11 was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan on the topic: “Progress in the implementation of the Medium-Term Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025 in the field of environmental protection, emergency situations and climate change within the framework of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan up to 2025.”

The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments, international organizations, civil society and sectoral experts.

The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Head of Working Group No. 11 — Shukurzoda Isfandiyor, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Madjon Manuchehra Mirzoali, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Representatives of the Committee for Environmental Protection and the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan then presented a report on the implementation of the Medium-Term Program for 2021–2025 in the relevant sectors.

 Jovidd Safarzoda, Head of the Department of State Policy and Control of the Committee for Environmental Protection, and Muhammadrahim Abdulloev, Deputy Head of the Department of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, presented a report covering results, current challenges and prospects for further implementation of the Program.

According to the agenda, Sattorzoda Dilshod, Director of the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Committee for Environmental Protection, delivered a presentation on the necessity of developing a National Greenhouse Gas Inventory and establishing a regulatory and methodological framework for monitoring and assessment of GHG emissions.

Saidzoda Faridun, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Development and Monitoring Department of the Committee for Environmental Protection, gave a presentation on the following projects:

"Environmental Standard Assessment (ESA)",

"Improving eco-economy and eco-services for rural communities in adaptation to climate change",

"Establishing digital capacities".

He emphasized the importance of developing new environmental standards, expanding eco-services in rural areas and applying digital solutions to improve the efficiency of governmental institutions.

The meeting featured an active exchange of views, a discussion session, and Q&A. Participants put forward a number of practical proposals to improve interagency cooperation and strengthen mechanisms for the implementation of priority areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Madjon Manuchehra Mirzoali, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, summed up the results and outlined future tasks and directions for further work.

This meeting was recognized as an important platform for enhancing cooperation between government agencies, civil society and development partners in the field of environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
